CUSCO |
The Incan Empire, the Tahuantinsuyo, extended up to Pasto , in Colombia , down to the Maule River in Chile . Its center was in Cusco, the Navel of the World, considered as the Sacred City |
Claims the myth that the Capital was founded by Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, offspring of the God Sun, that came out of the Titicaca Lake with the mission of searching for a place that would be the center of the great kingdom. The couple arrived in Cusco and taught the primitive dwellers the art of weaving, pottery, gold work and agriculture. This myth portraits the ritual relevance, but forgets its predecessors, the Marcavalle inhabitants ( 1000 B.C.) or the Huari settlements( 750 A .C.). |
